Zoot to provide training for Riverside Artists Working in Prison
The Riverside Arts Council has contracted Zoot to provide training for new artists working in the Arts in Corrections program at the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco and Ironwood State Prison in Blithe. The contract through the California Arts Council is part of a statewide program to return arts programs to the incarcerated. The program has proven to significantly lower recidivism rates for the inmates who participate. Riverside Arts Council is a new contractor under the program which began in 1980, was suspended in 2004 and reinstated in 2014.
